PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Internship will be combination of in office and virtual
  • MUST be local and willing to travel to headquarters location in Alexandria, Virginia for fingerprinting process
  • Minimum of one day a week in office for internship
  • Must have own laptop, computer, etc. (Jabber will be provided for phone calls)
  • Must be experienced in Microsoft Office Suite

HOURS:

A minimum of 16 hours per week until May 2023, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Intern will help the Outreach, Training and Prevention Team (OTP) with the following duties:

  • Communicate with public safety officials and maintain Excel spreadsheets for the Missing Kids Readiness Program (MKRP)
  • Research and other support related to outreach, training and prevention data analysis, needs assessment, program evaluation, planning and records maintenance.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must currently have or working towards an undergraduate or Master’s Degree or other advanced degree related to Criminal Justice, Forensic Psychology, Sociology, Adult Education/Training or a related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze written materials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • An interest and/or knowledge in crimes against children is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Zoom

 

SALARY: 

Internships are unpaid; however Interns will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience and will receive academic credit through an approved program of their college/university. Other training, community outreach and prevention program research and support projects as needed.
