Waste Management Operator Crew Leader - Public Services

JOB SUMMARY

The Waste Management Operator Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the work of assigned personnel engaged in the collection of refuse in accordance with established standards and routes.

 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

• Leads and manages assigned personnel in order to complete all tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Plans for manpower, equipment, and material required to complete assigned tasks
• Keeps the Supervisor abreast of all pertinent issues pertaining to employees, equipment, material, and facilities
• Ensures assigned personnel follow safe work procedures and practices at all times; conducts employee safety training as required
• Assigns work duties to assigned personnel for each project
• Recommends employee disciplinary action when required and assists the Foreman in the completion of employee evaluations
• Operates garbage trucks and other department heavy trucks/equipment to haul rock, dirt, refuse and/or trash in support of department activities
• Performs basic and routine light maintenance on heavy equipment
• Collects garbage and trash throughout the town in a safe and efficient manner
• Safely operate heavy equipment while in close proximity to vehicles, structures, and people.
• Represents the Town and interacts with the public on a daily basis
• Performs other duties as assigned that relate to Construction and Demolition (C&D) or Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
• Performs other duties as required

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years prior work experience
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License
• Commercial Driver’s License
