Community Service Officer - Police
JOB SUMMARY
The Community Service Officer receives, routes, and processes a variety of calls from the public and administration, enters and maintains Department records, and provides assistance to the public, vendors, attorneys and other professionals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Answers and forwards incoming telephone calls as appropriate and greets citizens in the lobby to provide information and answer routine questions; posts related information in accordance with Department procedures; accepts monies from the public for reports and background checks.

Completes, edits and processes a variety of Department records, reports and documentation, such as warrants, missing persons logs, incident and accident reports, stolen property reports, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, case information, etc.

Utilizes National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database to enter, obtain, confirm, or update information and relays information to requesting staff or others as appropriate.

Maintains Department hard copy files, automated data systems, and record holding systems, including scanning, copying, gathering, collating, entering, editing, and filing documentation.

Expunges electronic and hard copy records from the system in compliance with court orders and established policies and procedures.

Researches Department records and databases and provides incident and accident reports and case documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Receives and logs incident reports from the public, gathers pertinent information and details, enters case into database, and prepares and submits case narrative.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

One (1) year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field;

Valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.

Possession and maintenance of NCIC Operator and Instructor certifications is required after hire.
