SECTION A: OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION |

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing various radiologic, fluoroscopic, and diagnostic examinations. While providing patient care and customer service, the technologist must perform and complete the following: requisition evaluation, patient assessment, room preparation, patient management, equipment operation, technique selection, positioning skills, radiation safety, image processing, and image evaluation. |

1. Assessment, Quality, and Exam |
|||||||
a) Confirms patient information and verifies the procedure prescribed. b) Confirms and documents patient information and history. c) Verifies the patient’s pregnancy status when appropriate. d) Selects appropriate techniques for the procedures. e) Uses appropriate radiation safety standards and devices. f) Performs various radiologic procedures. h) Demonstrates abilities using RIS/PACS which includes but not limited to sending and retrieving data, document scanning, correct order entry, billing, and correction of data errors. i) Performs quality assurance (QA) activities based on established protocols and establishes an action plan to ensure safe practice and improved quality of materials, equipment and skills. |

3. Records and Documentation |

a) Documents diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. b) Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete. c) Records diagnostic or treatment data and performs routine archiving status checks and deletes data according to established guidelines.

a) Adhere to patient safety/infection control polices and procedures, facility rules and regulations, policies and procedures, professional code of ethics, regulatory agency guidelines and requirements, and accreditation standards. b) Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: |
||
Desired Skills & Knowledge |
Basic knowledge of radiologic equipment and human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology; positioning patient and appropriate radiology techniques. Knowledge of radiation physics, radiation safety, standard precautions, rules and regulations, government regulatory requirements and accrediting standards. Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; and demonstrate an attitude of respect and professionalism. |

Licensure & Certification |
A current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R). A current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist license as a radiographer. |

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements |
Employees must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily.The position may work on rotating shifts, with work on weekends and holidays. |
