OB/GYN CLERICAL Coordinator

Job Description

To provide administrative clerical support in the OB/GYN department, adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC, and meet the needs of patients and clerical staff in a teamwork approach. 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting and involves frequent telephone contact, as well as face-to-face communication with patients.  Interactions with others in constant and interruptive.  There is possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to medical practice.  Varied activities including walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients and sitting for extended periods of time may occur.  Also, occasional stress from multiple responsibilities. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner
  • Greet guests and incoming calls in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner
  • Addresses any patient complaints with the front desk and resolves patient issues. ( if unable to resolve take to the office manager).
  • Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the clerical staff as instructed by the office manager
  • Hold all information given by the Department Manager in the strictest confidence
  • Serves as an example of leadership and hard work.
  • Promotes harmony and a positive attitude.
  • Ensures that all information from the Department Manager is communicated with all members of your team.
  • Oversees the front office operation to ensure that the daily tasks are accomplished in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Promotes patient satisfaction
  • Be at your workstation on time and prepared to start the day
  • Be flexible when asked to stay past your scheduled work time (as needed) to accommodate the needs of patients
  • Informs Department Manager of any on-going problems in the work area.
  • Coordinates daily work schedules to accommodate regular lunch breaks, coverage for staff time off, required meetings, education participation and other necessary activities.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient service to include; assisting patient services with billing questions.
  • Assists with letters as instructed by physicians and office manager.
  • Promotes and trains clerical staff to understand clerical duties.
  • Meet or exceed patient, doctor, and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach
  • Keep your work area and the clinic clean
  • Assists in ordering office and or medical supplies.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures. 
  • With instruction, perform other duties as required or assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

-High School diploma or GED

-Experience preferred but not required
