Laboratory -Coding Specialist-FT
Job Title: Coding / Posting
Clerk
Objective: Primary
objective is to provide administrative support within the Department, or
Clinic-wide when requested, adhere to all policies and procedures of
Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and meet the needs of our patients in a teamwork
approach.
Job Responsibilities
v To have a positive attitude and
practice teamwork
Keep the
Clinic clean.
v Meet or exceed patient, doctor/provider
and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach.
v Greet patients and answer incoming
calls in a polite, prompt and helpful manner.
v Correctly code and post all charges.
v File all charges and insurance
correspondence in the patients chart.
v Maintain knowledge of Current
Procedural Terminology (CPT codes) and apply correctly to patient visits as
instructed by provider.
v Maintain knowledge of current
International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9, ICD-10) coding and apply
correctly to patient visits as instructed by provider.
v Audit (reconcile) fee tickets to insure
that appropriate CPT codes, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes and fees are posted for every
patient encounter.
v Manage reports to see that claims are
sent out accurately and timely.
v Work with medical staff to resolve
coding issues and associated problems.
v Attend any meeting related to job as
requested by Office Manager
v With instruction, anything else asked
of me to help department run smoothly.
v Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all OSHA
guidelines.
v Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all
MMC policies and procedures.
Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Experience preferred but not
required.

Combination of office and clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases
and potential exposure to bodily fluids.
Physical / Mental Demands
Varied activities including
sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Ability to lift 35 pounds. Ability to stoop and bend. Stress from
multiple responsibilities.
