Internal & Family Medicine Office Nurse Job Description
Job Title: Internal &
Family Medicine Office Nurse
Objective: Primary
objective is to provide nursing support within the Internal & Family Medicine
Department or Clinic-wide when requested, follow instruction of
physician/provider, adhere to all policies and procedures of Murfreesboro
Medical Clinic and meet the needs of our patients in a teamwork approach.
Essential Functions
v Obtain Vital Signs, including manual
blood pressures for patients.
v Collect, lab and deliver specimens to preforming
laboratory.
v Set up and assist in exam rooms and
procedure rooms as needed.
v Administer Vaccinations and adhere to
CDC vaccination guidelines
v Sterilize and clean equipment after
using.
v Utilize EHR to document and manage the patient’s
chart
v Reconciling the patient’s medication
list at each visit.
v Schedule procedure and educate patients
on any prep needed prior to procedure.
v Notify patients of test results as directed
by doctor/provider and appropriately document in EHR
v Administer and accurately document medication
injections, oral medications, and topical medications as ordered.
v Maintain and disperse sample
medications as indicated.
v Document all communications with
patients and act as a liaison between the patient and the provider, as well as
the patient and other health care agencies.
v Be a patient advocate when needed.
v Managing prescriptions refills with the
use of the department medication refill policy.
v Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
v Be knowledgeable in preventative care
and quality measures.
v Must be able to meet departmental
quality goals yearly.
v Must be able to use all computer system/applications
used in the department including but not limited to current EHR and Practice Management
Program
v Must obtain AHA Basic Life Saver
Certification within 90 days of employment
v Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all
OSHA guidelines.
v Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all
MMC policies and procedures.
v Additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience LPN, CMA, MA, CNT, CNA, PCT preferred

Environmental/ Working Conditions
Combination of office, exam, and other clinical
settings. Frequent exposure to
communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other conditions common
to nursing situations.
Physical / Mental Demands
Varied activities including sitting, walking, bending,
reaching, lifting, and stooping.
Occasional stresses from multiple patient care responsibilities.
