Segra is searching for a dynamic and experienced FIELD OPERATIONS MANAGER to reside within and support our VA markets, as follows: Bristol, Roanoke, Waynesboro, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Winchester.
Will manage a team that will perform tasks of considerable technical difficulty that includes analyzing, evaluating, designing, planning, or modifying a wide variety of telecommunication installations types. This position would be responsible for daily technical guidance, assistance and supervision to Field Operations Technician and Project Engineering staff. Must be able to clearly identify job and project priorities to meet departmental and company objectives.
Manager also has responsibility for all customer installations (Small and Medium Businesses and State Government) and direct supervision of Field Operation personnel in multiple regional service areas. Customer Installations activities include all customer premise installations and repairs including required premise equipment (NIDs, Routers, Data Switches, premise Firewalls, IAD’s, Hosted phones, ONT’s, etc.) for TDM, Ethernet, MPLS, and VoIP and Data services through T1 and Ethernet/Fiber level services.
Will manage the overall installation and implementation process, equipment training requirements, establishing and maintaining operational policies and procedures, serve as point of escalation within department, equipment sparing and logistical support, vendor and contractor management, project tracking and workflow management, site survey and site walks, participation with internal and external project reviews and supporting internal departments within this discipline.
Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, with a proven skill set, and the ability to manage equipment test and activation functions and processes, installation SOW and MOP reviews, ability to provide installation resource support services through internal or external sourcing, installation metrics, and high degree of central office industry standards. Additional required knowledge of engineering standards, ability to review, interpret or create OSP and equipment designs. High level of DWDM, SONET, and IP knowledge required.
Qualifications
- Education: Technical degree in business, engineering or IT, and/or related experience.
- Experience: minimium of 5-10 years of telecommunications experience within this discipline.
- Key Competencies: High level of experience with DWDM, SONET, and IP equipment and technologies. Experience with voice, data, and transmission systems and networks. Telecommunication installation support and management functions. Development and knowledge of telecommunication standards related to central office and equipment installation. Competance with AC/DC power, infrastructure, cabling and distribution systems. Outstanding computer, written, verbal communication skills, and excellent analytical problem solving abilities.
