Program Supervisor Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the MST Program Director and the Clinical Supervision of the MST Expert, the Program Supervisor is primarily responsible for the daily management, administration and coordination of the MST program in Ulster County.  

Program Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Carry clinical and administrative supervisory responsibilities for 1-2 MST teams of 2-4 therapists each
  • Conduct weekly group supervision and training for MST team to assure adherence to MST principles and the MST analytic process, and to assure clinician competency in implementation of interventions
  • Participate in all MST training, supervision, consultation, and MST Supervisor development activities.
  • Assure availability of clinical and administrative support to clinicians 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
  • Maintains strong collaborative working relationships with community partners and referral streams.
  • Conduct individual supervision as needed to target clinician competency needs and to remove individual barriers to effective implementation of MST treatment
  • Deliver MST to a caseload of 1-2 families, as required to address program needs as well as support case coverage needs
  • Reviews program referrals, determines appropriateness of referrals, assigns as indicated and ensures that the case intake is conducted in a timely fashion.
  • Oversees and participates as a member of the treatment team.  Assures the high standards and continuity of services to families and children. Participates in service planning, implementation of program goals and in carrying out the activities of the program.
  • Produces ongoing statistical and narrative reports as required by the agency, funding bodies and MST. 
  • Demonstrates the values of diversity, equity and belonging; foster an inclusive environment that facilitates diversity.
  • Initiates personnel recruitment and participates in selection, provides supervision and annual performance evaluations to ensure high quality service.
  • Promote and educate about MST with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate actively with MST Expert around implementation of MST by the program, and to ensure continued development of own clinical skills and knowledge of relevant research
  • Identifies Untoward Incidents; ensures proper incident notification; debriefs staff; coordinates submission of required documentation.  Participates in the agency-wide incident review process.
  • Participates in the coordination of program development; consults with the MST Expert and Program Director in setting, achieving, and evaluating program objectives and goals.
  • Participates in all quality assurance components built in to the MST model.
  • Maintains commitment to own professional development and to the development of their staff
  • Knows and carries out Agency policies and procedures.  Develops and revises program policies and procedures as needed. Ensures that Program Policy and Procedures Manual is up-to-date.
  • Attends and participates in supervisory conferences, staff meetings, and orientation sessions as required. Serves as an effective communication link between program and the agency as a whole.
  • Provides door to door transportation as required.  Ensures safety and welfare of passengers during loading, unloading and transit.  Makes use of personal vehicle for program transportation as required.
  • Handles emergency situations which may require flexibility of time and area of assignment.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Program Supervisor Qualifications

  • Masters in Social Work or related clinical degree and three (3) years of experience in providing clinical services to families and children.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Prior work as an MST therapist preferred.
  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals across cultures and social identities. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and with flexibility in days and hours of work.  Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and an understanding of clinical issues affecting families in the child welfare system.

Pay: $74,000 / year
