RE Tech Advisors is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and passionate Principal Manager to lead and oversee support for multiple client commercial real estate ESG and decarbonization programs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing ESG advisory firm to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.

We strongly prefer the position to be based out of our headquarters office in Tysons Corner, VA or our office in Dallas, Texas. However, we will consider qualified remote candidates. RE Tech supports a hybrid work model with flexible work schedules that include a mix of in office and work from home.


What we are looking for in you:

  • You are an industry guru with experience managing client or corporate ESG, energy efficiency and/or decarbonization programs, preferably in the commercial real estate sector.
  • You are a developer of others with a proven track record and solid reputation for building and supporting high growth, high performing client management teams.
  • You cultivate client relationships and have experience serving as a strategic advisor on multiple clients, ensuring clients get the support they need, growing the relationships to maximize impact, and ensuring client success.
  • And you are budget savvy with experience managing budgets of varying size and scale.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee multiple client ESG and/or Decarbonization Programs in the commercial real estate industry, with no oversight, with combined budgets of at least $4 million annually.
  • Engage with clients as the strategic advisor and overall program oversight to ensure ongoing client success. Build and maintain key client relationships to create opportunities for both short- and long-term client growth. Actively engage in strategic analysis, planning, and execution on client program activities. Visit clients as needed.
  • Ensure clients move through the phases of ESG and/or Decarbonization program, from design to implementation. Ensure that services are presented to the client to meet their evolving needs. Expand services where needed and appropriate to maximize impact. Client support may include, but is not limited to:
    • Development and execute overall client strategy and program design.
    • Utility data collection, benchmarking and tracking in EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager tool, as well as client third party data management providers.
    • Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on property performance (energy, water, and waste).
    • Completion of GHG inventories. Development and implementation of decarbonization strategies.
    • Third party reporting, such as GRESB, CDP, and GHG inventories as well as CSR and ESG reports.
    • Marketing and communications support
  • Oversee and develop a team of Managers who execute the day-to-day client and Program Management responsibilities under your supervision. Provide oversight in their management and development of their direct reports. Evoke creative and innovative thinking from team members while helping them to develop their skills and achieve career goals.
  • Drive and support talent management and succession planning within the program team.
  • Ensure client project team is operating efficiently and continuously identifying and implementing process improvement, including identifying and elevating opportunities for replicable services and standardizing approaches.
  • Collaborate across practice areas and with client managers to ensure RE Tech works across teams to meet the needs of clients.
  • Review strategic client deliverables for quality control and budget accountability, ensuring the work is accurate, on time, on budget and meets the client’s needs.
  • Oversee staff planning and resource allocation for your client programs. Monitor team capacity and utilization, identify hiring/staffing needs, and participate in the interview process.
  • Create program budgets, monthly staffing allocations, and oversee budget tracking.
  • Support business development efforts:
    • Ensure client success through renewals as well as expanding support for existing clients
    • Coordinate with business development team to create scopes of work and proposals, and to recommend new client services
    • Represent RE Tech at conferences, speaking engagements and through thought leadership efforts.
    • Engage Legence companies, where needed, to implement solutions for clients. 
  • Serve as a role model for the company and within the ESG industry. Build community and collaboration internally and externally. Continue to be a part of or join an industry community serving as a representative of RE Tech. Identify and oversee opportunities for team member participation In Industry groups.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

  • High degree of proactiveness, drive, enthusiasm, and energy.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).

Education and Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience serving as a Program Manager for multiple client engagements with minimal oversight
  • Experience in a client facing consulting role, delivering professional services. Building relationships across clients and internal teams.
  • Experience developing and administering successful sustainability, ESG, energy and/or decarbonization programs at scale across large portfolios of commercial real estate assets, with specific expertise focused on one or more of the follow commercial sectors: office, multifamily, retail, warehouse, senior care, medical office, and hospitality.
  • Experience developing and managing multiple time-based budgets, both as time and materials, as well as fixed price, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes. Experience with resource and capacity planning.
  • 5 years’ experience managing people and teams, including all aspects of performance management
  • Experience in commercial real estate (one or more sectors)

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
