RE Tech Advisors is currently seeking a highly motivated, well-rounded, and organized Energy Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your passion for sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies to support national clients in the real estate industry.

Education and Experience
  • 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited university in mechanical engineering, energy systems, or related energy discipline.
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience.
  • 2 or more years of on-the-job engineering experience.
  • 2 or more years of direct engineering experience in any of HVAC design, building commissioning, building automation controls, or building HVAC energy studies.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~30% of the time).
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems through either college coursework or work experience.
  • Possess a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam; and/or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Knowledge of electrification, net-zero energy, net-zero water design and retrofits for buildings.
  • Knowledge of building decarbonization fundamentals
  • Very proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerBI and/or Windows computing environment).
  • Ability to effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, to ensure client and internal needs are being met in a timely manner.
  • Possess sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Ability to manage up, down, and across the organization, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude. Ability to manage challenging interpersonal situations, including employee and client relationships.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and priorities at the same time.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing landscape and client needs, being able to pivot and adjust priorities and approaches.
  • An understanding of the importance of continuous learning, self-awareness, owning mistakes and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions
  • Listen to clients discuss their facility design and issues;
  • Identify, recommend, and assist clients in implementing cost-effective energy conservation measures;
  • Identify and calculate energy savings potential for facility upgrades;
  • Perform physical site visits to key client properties to identify operational opportunities for energy improvement and train facility staff in improved facility operations;
  • Build relationships with property operation and management teams;
  • Support implementation, oversight and commissioning of energy-saving building projects ranging from operational measures to large capital expenditures;
  • Perform data collection and analysis related to building systems;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk, stoop, hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and travel to client building locations to perform site visits, which require the following:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time (estimated at 8-10 hours per day) while holding and taking notes on a tablet.
  • Ascending and descending stairs and/or ladders to reach rooftops and other areas of the buildings.
  • Being physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
  • Work in and move about small spaces and pathways.
  • Work in spaces with noise up to 100 dB (with company-provided ear protection).
  • Work in conditions with high to very high heat and/or low to very low cold.
  • Carry a Toolkit with equipment, weighing up to 30 lbs.
