The Daily Nonpareil in Council Bluffs, Iowa just over the river from Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a creative, motivated student journalist for a 10-week paid internship this summer.
We want our interns to walk away with a rewarding, real-world newsroom experience, a pile of great clips and the skills they need to develop into the next generation of journalists. We will provide an atmosphere of collaboration and support and we are seeking a variety of applicants, from news and sports reporters to photographers and videographers, but successful candidates will be innovative, prolific and deadline-driven.
Our interns will work alongside professional journalists, who will provide guidance, direction and support. They’ll also have access to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists who are part of the Lee Enterprises network of 77 news markets across the U.S.
Exceptional interns will be considered for full-time employment at the conclusion of the program.
Qualified candidates should be inquisitive self-starters who are capable of producing compelling content for our digital and print platforms. Interns should feel empowered to find and pitch great stories about our increasingly diverse communities. We want multitaskers who can juggle multiple assignments and embrace all facets of multimedia storytelling.
All interns should have their own transportation to assignments and must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
Please apply online at www.lee.net/careers. When applying, please include a cover letter, resume and 3-5 examples of published journalism work with your online application, including at least one multimedia example, such as video, podcast, interactive or photo work. Photo interns may submit a link to their work.
