THINGS TO EXPECT AS AN OVERNIGHT SHELTER ADVOCATE:  
  • Provide supportive case management services to domestic violence clients; establish/maintain client files.     
  • Provide crisis intervention, domestic violence education, and resources and referral services to callers/clients on the crisis hotline and in the shelter.
  • Be responsible to supervisor for issues regarding admission and discharge, while being in conformance with the agency’s program definition and policies as relevant to program/client needs.
  • Access community resources for obtaining assistance when needed; coordinate services with clients and other service providers and domestic violence shelters.
  • Facilitate and coordinate discharge planning transition and follow up according to plan.
  • Participate in required client care supervision on a regular basis as required by state law and A New Leaf policy.
  • Drive personal vehicle or agency passenger van to conduct program business (mail runs, grocery shopping, etc.).
  • Drive 12-15 passenger van to transport clients and complete other duties, as needed.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
  • Communicate with hotel/motel and /or transportation agencies for client placement for DVSTOP.

Pay: $17.35
Schedule: Thursday and Friday, 8:00pm to 6:00am, and Saturday from 9:00pm to 6:00am

Qualifications:            

  • High School or GED required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
    • Experience working with domestic violence, homeless or economically disadvantaged population preferred.
    • Knowledge of and/or experience with trauma informed practices required.
    • Knowledge of community resources.
