Job Title: Senior Technical Specialist
Department: Tech Services
Reports To: Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt, Grade 52
SUMMARY
Test, install and support new equipment and technologies; (ie smart phones, SCCM, MDT). Support, monitor, test and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to the network and users at the remote sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support and maintain the office computer systems of the Landstar System, Inc remote sites and Orientation Centers.
Support field representatives and remote personnel with network connections to Landstar.
Secure the network from outside threats (i.e. viruses, hackers, and hostile programs).
Manage deployments of operating systems, applications and other technologies within the network.
Ability to learn and implement emerging technologies.
Build and maintain network computer systems.
Effectively create standard documentation, procedures and best practices.
Must perform duties to the standards of the job description and comply with the company's policies, practices, and procedures.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Working knowledge of Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT/WDS)
Working knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
Knowledge of Microsoft workstation and server operating systems (Windows 7, Server 2008)
Knowledge of TCP/IP and basic networking topology
Knowledge of Microsoft Remote desktop Protocol (RDP), Dameware
Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting
Advanced knowledge of computer peripherals and troubleshooting
Experience with Active Directory (Account creation, modification, policies, and registry)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. Ability to sit at workstation for 8 hour shift and perform extensive computer and telephone work.
