Title: Quality APQP Engineer

We are seeking a Quality APQP Engineer to work at the Dahlonega Georgia production facility. The location produces needle rollers, taper rollers, and wheel bearings for various automotive and industrial applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains quality process control plans of product
  • Quality activities in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
  • Perform Feasibility Studies, Capacity Analysis and Cost Estimates
  • Team member for leading production launch of new part items
  • Team member for resolving customer requests, concerns and complaints
  • Internal Quality Auditor Team Member for IATF 16949
  • Coordinator for plant internal management of change system
  • Develops innovative process improvements for cost and quality
  • Manage temporary instruction or procedures as needed

Work Hours and Benefits:

  • Typical work hours are from 8:00AM to 5:00PM with 1 hour for lunch
  • Special intervals occur that require extended hours when supporting new item launch or working on customer complaint issues. Occasionally, weekend work is required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications
  • Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Data Analysis using Minitab
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working within strict time frames.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external.
  • Capacity to work independently from general supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Problem solving skills using scientific method, A3 or 8D thinking processes.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Metallurgy or Heat Treating experience is preferred
  • Metrology and Statistical Process Control experience is preferred
  • Root cause analysis experience preferred
  • Above average math skills (sound knowledge in both statistics and trigonometry)

Growth and Development:

Depending on selected candidates preferred education and experience listed above, job training will be required to become fully functional in the position. Training will include:

  • APQP Quality Tools
  • Heat Treatment of Bearing Steel
  • Metallurgy and Metallographic Lab
  • Internal Auditor Training

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is performed in a normal office setting and on the manufacturing shop floor.
  • There will be minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
  • In the office setting, substantial time is spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity.
  • Shop floor setting will result in exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, fumes, limited dust, and oily coolants. Requires walking, climbing, bending, and occasional lifting of material up to 50 pounds.
  • The performance of this position will require daily exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses with side shields safety toe shoes and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Travel by automobile and plane required up to 10% of time. Overnight stays may be required.
