Summary/Purpose

Provides services to assigned project areas.  Designs and tests systems, automation, and controls for various processes and activities.  Works as part of the Maintenance Controls function and jointly with MFG, Engineering, and equipment teams to develop solutions to critical problems both affecting plant performance and to secure future system integrity.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

Diagnose electrical and electronic circuits, controls, relay ladder logic, Boolean logic; troubleshoot and program PLC/CNC as either program development or current systems.

Work jointly with Automation Engineering and Mechatronics functions as assigned on technology solutions involving data management, automation, and process integrity of controls.

Manage and analyze data and data flow for proper process operations and improvement activities.

Validate, create, monitor, and support training systems designed to maintain/upgrade skill levels of operations and maintenance as it pertains to traceability and automation activities.

Coordinate effective utilization of resources and timeliness of repair; restore manufacturing process to full production capability.

Provide hands on support for new programs, engineering related projects, machine tool build/development, upgrading of machines to advanced level of technology, etc.

Develops equipment and process quotations for new business opportunities, jointly with ME, and corporate engineering teams.

Prepares detailed equipment specifications.

Makes reports as required for process development or troubleshooting.

Assume key role in safety awareness and accident prevention related to automation systems and machine design.

Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may have leader responsibilities during project management activities. 

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Experience and proficiency with automation integration.

5 years' experience and working with PLC logic controls (AB, Mitsubishi, and/or ToyoPUC).

4 years knowledge of networking systems.

Strong organizational skills, able to work under pressure, and multi-task.

Must enjoy challenges and have the ability to meet deadlines.

Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.

 

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and 6 years manufacturing maintenance experience, or associate degree in technical field and 4 years manufacturing maintenance experience. 

Experience should include PLC programming, PC networking (IoT, Static IP, and data management), robotics, and traceability systems.
