Summary/Purpose
|
Manage all Production Control and Logistics functions with the purpose of creating and executing the master schedule to meet customer demand, work-in-process inventory, finish goods inventory, and plant productivity objectives.
|
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
|
- Manage and control in-house material inventory (FG, WIP, RAW) in cooperation with the PC and Logistics Managers
- Oversee management of tool crib inventories, including obsolescence, management of Min/Max, and approval of new items.
- Support the improvement of material handling systems, delivery routes, sight management systems and functional procedures
- Support Kaizen department and Production Control efforts to implement/improve TPS, production systems including Kanban system, Heijunka, etc.
- Support development of safe material handling practices and environments
- Supplier release and master scheduling system management
- Lead Monthly (4 –month horizon) plant wide production meetings
- Customer contact responsibility for production planning and product delivery requirements
- Lead efforts to improve supplier delivery focusing on worst performers, engage purchasing for support
- Create departmental budgets and manpower plan and manage within planned expense/manpower
- Monitor line performance to schedule and initiate corrective actions as required
- Set inventory planning policy and control inventory levels to desired reduction targets (lead time reduction).
- Initiate and lead corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy
- Develop systems to reduce obsolete and slow moving materials (follow POCP process)
- Track delivery performance and lead efforts to implement corrective actions
- Coordinate actions to manage material inventory through production phase-outs.
- Lead plant-level response to past-due component deliveries. Manage initial actions to resolve supplier delays.
- Lead escalation of potential supplier interruptions in cooperation with JNA Purchasing
- Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Supervisory Responsibilities:
|
- This position is responsible for supervising Managers of Production Control and Logistics departments and oversight of employees within each in accordance with policies and procedures.
|
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
|
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word, Access, Oracle system
- Must be self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Communicate and effectively deal with suppliers, customers and other departments
- Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems
|
Education and Experience:
|
- Bachelor of Science in Business, Materials Management, or Engineering, or equivalent experience, including 6-8 years of leadership experience in automotive related manufacturing, material management, customer contact, warehousing, or production control function.
The above may be waived by the department Director/Manager and the Human Resources Director if the candidate is otherwise qualified.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
|
- Sit with intermittent walking
- Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
- Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
- Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
- Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
