Department description:
The Resource Studies and Assessments (RSA) and Special Studies & Interregional Planning (SSIP) groups are responsible for performing techno-economic studies to determine the installed capacity requirements of our system and economics of the future power system with different resource mixes. We also represent the ISO in various interregional planning groups.
What will you be working on:
Our intern will learn from our subject matter experts to perform these techno-economic studies and help bring new insights in how to innovate and automate these studies to help incorporate new grid of the future concepts and improve efficiency to increase performance. This internship will provide immediate value to a future engineer as it will provide insights to the challenges of renewable integration.
How will you make an impact:
The intern will gain valuable understanding of the power system and the clean energy transition. They will gain experience in taking state of the art future grid concepts and integrating them into existing processes to improve overall study results. They will also become proficient users of industry leading software that will enable them to become effective on the first day of their careers after finishing their degrees.
What we look for in a candidate:
- Strong and independent work ethic
- Robust working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Access
- Basic understanding of power system concepts
- Ability to program (Python and MATLAB preferred, VBA)
To be eligible for the internship candidate must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program. Candidates must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.
