Starting salary $73,159 rising to $84,064 in 2 years, with SUPERB benefits, including free health insurance for self and dependents, matching 401k, pension, etc.

Position Summary:

The Communications Assistant at the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is responsible for supporting senior leadership and the broader Division in the promoting the union’s work and mission. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can facilitate the efficient operations of a Communications office.

Responsibilities:

·        Provide administrative support to the AGP for Communications, including coordinating and scheduling travel and meetings, screening incoming calls, and handling routine clerical activities

·        Monitor Division email inboxes; responding in a timely fashion to standard requests for information and referring out as appropriate

·        Manage Division invoices and billing requests, including assembling and mailing advertising tear sheets

·        Maintain IAFF Logo Use Request records

·        Compile information for special reports and projects, collaborating with other Divisions as appropriate to complete tasks

·        Order and maintain supplies and equipment for Division

·        Work with outside vendors as appropriate

·        Perform other duties as required to support the Communications Division, the IAFF, and its mission

Qualifications:

·        High school graduate; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

·        At least three years of administrative work experience in an office environment

·        Proficient managing complex administrative tasks typical in a busy office

·        Proficient computer use, with a strong familiarity of Microsoft Office suite
