Hammer Residences is a nonprofit organization that is mission-driven in our approach. For over 95 years, Hammer has supported individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to help them live life to its fullest.


Overview: Hammer is now hiring for a Program Manager at our Garland home. Garland is home to four men ranging in age from their mid-40s to early 70s. The men at Garland enjoy doing a variety of activities including going for walks, going out for coffee/pop, going to church, shopping, eating at restaurants, doing arts and crafts, attending sporting events, attending concerts, and taking part in community activities. All the men need assistance preparing meals, cleaning, laundry, and medication administration. The medical needs of the house are not high. Some of the men have behavioral support needs with behavior protocols while some have very few needs in this area. The Program Manager will be responsible for 20 hours of Admin work and 20 hours Direct Care.



  • Plan, implement and evaluate the programs, services and activities provided in the program.
  • Facilitate the interdisciplinary team in developing plans to meet the individuals’ needs.
  • Use required technology to maintain daily, monthly, and annual required documentation as scheduled.
  • Ensure the program’s operations comply with regulations, health, and safety.
  • Select staff, assign, and review work, schedule shifts and confirm payroll hours, working unfilled shifts if necessary.
  • Conduct staff meeting and review plans and reports to ensure quality.
  • Respond to emergencies and report accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain operating budget, authorize expenses, and request necessary maintenance and repairs for the residence and vehicle(s).
  • Assist with all areas of the individuals’ programs including personal cares, medication administration, daily household chores and support in the community.

  • Two-year college degree and two years of full-time experience in the field of developmental disabilities or 50 hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities and four years of full-time work experience with people with disabilities to manage a waiver program.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle with current auto insurance, and a driving record that meets the standard of our insurance company.
  • Must be able to pass a background check per MN regulations.
  • Available to work a flexible full-time schedule including some evenings and some weekends.
