Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for utilizing best practices in internal communications and supporting internal partners with effective marketing strategies to advance the organization's mission and goals. Top candidates for this role should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience developing communications that foster internal associate engagement.

 

Essential Functions

Internal Communications

  • Lead and execute internal communications strategy, development and implementation for our 1,000+ employees located across Franklin and Madison Counties
  • Produce and publish employee communications including internal email newsletter and other channels
  • Moderate employee communication channels including e-mail inbox and forums
  • Manage employee communications across distributed workforce and multiple locations
  • Support and review corporate and leadership communications
  • Work closely with Human Resources for employee recognition and appreciation

 

Cross-Functional Marketing Support

  • Oversee department-level marketing requests that support their individual objectives
  • Manage corporate brand collateral process (business cards, letterhead, etc.)
  • Plan and conduct internal employee interviews for press and success stories
  • Own success story repository and organization

 

Public Relations

  • Lead public relations efforts including media relations, pitch development, press releases, and media advisory development
  • Develop an editorial calendar of press opportunities positioning Goodwill Columbus as an expert source around strategic initiatives and programs
  • Manage media inquiries and coordinate press conferences, interviews, and events
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and other key figures

 

Crisis Management

  • Aid with crisis communications efforts through the development of company statements, talking points and media advisories (as needed)

 

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in internal or corporate communications, preferably with a diverse, distributed workforce
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks and evolving priorities
  • Experience writing press releases, pitching stories, and positioning executives as thought leaders and SMEs
  • Experience managing and building relationships with members of the media and/or supporting crisis communications
  • Possess a strategic approach to problems solving
  • Feel free to provide any written communication examples - this role is all about communication and want to see what you've got!
  • Account management or project management experience is a plus
