Assistant Camp Director – Staff Life 

Camp Gundalow, in Greenland NH, is seeking an Assistant Director of Staff Life for the summer 2024 season! Our camp, a traditional day camp serves youth ages 6-13 while coaching campers to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves so that you can learn, grow, and thrive during your tenure at the Y. 

This position is responsible for overseeing and developing all camp staff to ensure a positive and engaging camp program and an effective and collaborative staff team. 

Responsibilities: 

• Acts as a collaborative member of the camp leadership team 
• Supports pre-camp training 
• Supervises, coaches, mentors, evaluates and provides feedback to members of the day camp staff team 
• Supports and guides other camp staff in their development and engagement with their coworkers 
• Implements team engagement and recognition initiatives 
• Schedules staff and ensures appropriate coverage for all program areas 
• Recommends and supports any staff performance improvement plans to the Camp Director 
• Supports the planning, implementation, and facilitation of staff training and meetings, both pre-camp and ongoing
• Continually model and teach character development and Y core value qualities
• Provide direction and guidance for staff in the day-to-day camp operations
• Frequently participate with campers and staff in activities

Qualifications: 

• 3-5 years experience working with youth and supporting staff preferred 
• Completed High School or equivalent; some college credits or certifications in a related field preferred 
• Minimum of 2 years experience managing teams 
• Possess strong organizational and group management skills 
• Proficient use of Word, Excel, and Outlook and general computer and tablet functions 
• Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible, and positive attitude to work 
• Must be available to attend camp training before and throughout the camp season 

Position Specifics: 

• Camp season runs 6/01/2024 through 8/24/2024 and must be able to work most of the camp weeks 
• Pay range $16 - $17hr depending upon experience
