Camp Halfmoon Assistant Director of Specialty Camps

Camp Halfmoon, in Goffstown NH, is seeking an Assistant Director of Specialty Camps for the summer 2024 season! For over 50 years Camp Halfmoon has operated as a traditional outdoor day camp where we serve youth from 6-15 years old. Throughout the camp season, we encourage campers to try new things, help them build positive relationships, and create long-lasting memories. While simultaneously ensuring camper safety, acting as a positive role model, and of course, having fun! The person in this position is responsible for direct supervision of youth and the implementation of program activities for the assigned specialty camp, and the oversight of counselors assigned to their camp group. 

Responsibilities: 

• Acts as a collaborative member of the camp leadership team 
• Supports pre-camp training 
• Supervise, evaluate and coach all counselors assigned to specialty camps regarding program implementation, developing age-appropriate activities, and addressing camper concerns 
• Continually model and teach character development and Y core value qualities 
• Establish a fun and developmentally engaging environment and activities through appropriate techniques 
• Oversee and engage with campers and staff in every capacity throughout the day during assigned shifts and activities 

Qualifications: 

• 3-5 years’ experience working with Youth and supporting staff preferred 
• High school degree or equivalent, related college coursework preferred 
• Possess strong organizational and group management skills 
• Proficient use of Word, Excel and Outlook and general computer and tablet functions 
• Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work 
• Must be available to attend camp trainings before and throughout camp season 

Position Specifics: 

• Camp season runs 06/08/24 through 08/23/24 and must be able to work a majority of the camp weeks 
• Pay range $16 - $17hr depending upon experience
