PAY RANGE: $67,400.00 - $70,000.00 ANNUALLY

 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Learning Specialist II is responsible for designing and delivering engaging learning experiences for employees, aligning with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. 

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops technical and behavioral expectation training and objectives.  
  1. Assesses employee development needs and defines appropriate resources and processes to support learning.  
  1. Develops unique training programs to support the development of our retail and product services departments and their employee’s.  
  1. Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.  
  1. Develops strategies to ensure the application and transfer of learned skills and knowledge to the workplace, including post-training activities and assessments. 
  1. Documents existing internal processes and procedures to create training materials.  
  1. Creates and updates training procedure manuals, user guides, and learning materials.  
  1. Trains and coach’s managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts (train the trainer)  
  1. Maintains records of training and development activities and conducts follow-up studies of completed training to evaluate and measure results.  
  1. Assists the Manager Learning Operations with developing and maintaining instructional best practices for in-person, virtual and on-demand formats.  
  1. Develops and delivers engaging and interactive live, virtual, and on-demand training sessions for employees across the organization.   
  1. Works effectively with members of management and human resources to create effective learning programs.  
  1. Monitors, tracks, and reports on organization-wide training programs in addition to specialized training programs that address the learning and development needs of a department, position and/or functional area.   
  1. Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in learning and development.  
  1. Adapts and customizes learning content to meet the unique needs of different learner groups. 
  1. Adapts facilitation style and content delivery based on the needs and preferences of diverse learner groups. 
  1. Leverages technology to enhance learning experiences, including virtual platforms, the Learning Management System, multimedia, and other interactive tools. 
  1. Ensures seamless integration of digital resources into the learning process. 
  1. Administers assessments to measure learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback to participants. 
  1. Develops evaluation tools and gathers feedback to continuously improve learning programs. 
  1. Encourages individuals to take ownership of their development and seek opportunities for growth. 
  1. Other duties as assigned. 

 

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:

  1. Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to present information positively, professionally, logically, and concisely.
  2. The ability to facilitate effective training sessions and create job aids and complementary documents to engage, educate, coach, and motivate participants by example in all training activities.
  3. The ability to multi-task effectively and to work productively with short timelines.
  4. Strong team skills and the ability to work constructively and collaboratively with management, peers, and other departments.
  5. Ability to communicate with a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences, internally and externally, through both written and verbal communication in technical and business terms as needed.
  6. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate a personal computer and other standard office equipment, such as multi-purpose copier and telephone.
  7. Ability to work closely with peers and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
  8. Make sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions.
  9. Must have the ability to work on own initiative.
  10. Must be able to work under tight deadlines.

  2. EXTERNAL: Training Associations, community organizations and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Education, Training and Development, or a related discipline. 
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilitating learning sessions, curating content, for curriculum development, participating in or leading consulting intake conversations, preferably in diverse organizational settings. Experience working with subject matter experts and instructional designers. 
  3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
  • Relationship building and inquiry skills as used in consulting conversations, needs assessments, focus groups. 
  • Show commitment to personal and professional development in learning and development.
  • Ability to conduct interactive and engaging learning sessions using a variety of instructional techniques. 
  • Skilled in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and collaboration. 
  • Effective delivery of content aligned with organizational learning objectives and industry best practices. 
  • Competency in utilizing diverse instructional methods, including presentations, group activities, case studies, and discussions. 
  • Skill in implementing strategies to ensure the application and transfer of learned skills and knowledge to the workplace. 
  • Ability to design and conduct post-training activities and assessments. 
  • Collaborative mindset to work with subject matter experts and instructional designers to review and adapt training materials. 
  • Ability to adapt and customize learning content to meet the unique needs of different learner groups. 
  • Flexibility in adapting facilitation style and content delivery based on the needs and preferences of diverse learners. 
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance learning experiences, including virtual platforms, Learning Management Systems, multimedia, and other interactive tools. 
  • Skill in administering assessments to measure learning outcomes. 
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members and participants to support their development. 
  • Analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives and make data-driven improvements. 
  • Ability to inspire employees and promote a culture of continuous learning. 
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records of participant attendance, performance, and feedback. 
  • Ability to develop and improvement of training materials based on participant interactions. 
  • Ability to create policy that informs instructional and program design

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Combined sitting, standing, and moving throughout the day performing work-related functions.
    2. Vision in the normal range to accomplish tasks.
    3. Hearing within the normal range required. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    4. Frequent travel may be required.

 

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A valid California Driver’s License is required.
  • ATD, Sacramento ATD, CSU, or similar Train-the-Trainer certification
