Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the CHRO, the Senior Director of Human Resources will provide operational leadership and guidance to the Human Resources team to develop and retain a strong, vibrant, and passionate staff to best serve our staff and mission.  The Senior Director of Human Resources will oversee a team of seven to provide a comprehensive range of services including administration of employee relations issues, staff development and training, and management of a range of human resources functions such as benefits, recruitment; performance management; and salary administration.  The Senior Director of Human Resources will play a leadership role on the Senior Director and Executive Team and in the agency in developing and maintaining a stable, skilled, professional, dedicated staff.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conjointly develop HR policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and aligns with Fortune’s strategic plans, business needs and mission.
  • Ensure all HR policies are applied consistently and are communicated effectively.
  • Manage and oversee the HR team in the areas of staff training, recruiting, compensation administration, employee relations, benefits administration, employee communications, policy design, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure the management and maintenance of all essential records of employment, benefits and training, creating systems and using technological solutions to increase efficiency and minimize error.
  • Ensure that all mandatory reporting and record keeping is upheld.
  • Develop and implement employee accountability and address potential employee and organizational issues to ensure that employment practices reflect the values and culture of The Fortune Society.
  • Consult with managers at all levels to resolve employee performance or disciplinary actions in consultation with In-House Counsel.
  • Oversee all aspects of employee benefits in keeping with regulatory and legal requirements and research and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Oversee and direct all recruitment activities and develop competency models for key positions to identify skills gaps and needed development.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies to increase staffing stability.
  • Proactively monitor compensation programs and policies to maintain market competitiveness and internal equity, including conducting regular benchmarking analyses.
  • Provide routine reporting on turnover and other key statistics related to the HR function.
  • Perform other human resources related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of seven years of senior Human Resources management experience; S/PHR or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing team and working across a multi-site structure.
  • Deep knowledge of benefits, recruitment, payroll, and compensation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess solid knowledge of federal, state and local labor laws; ability to meet the expectation that s/he will stay abreast of legal changes affecting HR.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for planning and reporting purposes.
  • Manages seven HR staff; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and engaging employees; addressing employee relations and resolving problems.
  • Practiced in performance management and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee recruitment of high-volume front-line jobs.
  • Superior skills in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PPT.
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems required; DayForce/Ceridian a plus.
  • Customer-focused with experience and ability to work with staff at a variety of levels and to coordinate multiple stakeholders and projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Good self-direction and ability to problem solve and work as a team; and
  • A sense of humor.
