Buehler’s Management Development Program 
 
Position: Management Trainee
Position Type: Salaried Exempt
Availability: 45hrs a week; may include some nights and weekends
 
We’re looking for future leaders to join our Management Development Program. It’s our goal to identify talented individuals that are interested in learning and growing into a leadership position at one of our store locations.
 
Our management trainee program is designed to provide you with the insights, support and guidance needed to properly prepare you for managing your own team.
 
Food Service/Grocery Retail experience preferred!

As a Management Trainee, you’ll train on all aspects of successfully running department operations in preparation for leading your own team. You’ll be involved in supervising day-to-day department operations, ensuring overall department performance, identifying staffing needs, managing labor budge expectations and successfully executing company initiatives and goals while mentoring and developing your team.
 
Duties and Responsibilities of a Buehler’s Manager:
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversees the daily workflow of the store and/or department. Schedules and assigns staff to ensure efficient operations and optimal customer experience.
• Understands the overarching company strategy, as well as communicates and models the core values of the organization, to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees.
• Recruits, hires, and trains staff.
• Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports to ensure mutual understanding and desired results.
• Conduct meaningful coaching when an employee’s performance declines 
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with policy.
 
Duties/ Responsibilities:
• Develops and implements strategies to improve customer service and experience on an ongoing basis. 
• Ensures a consistent, efficient, pleasant customer experience; resolves any customer service issues, complaints, or requests.
• Oversees product merchandising and maintains proper stock levels through product ordering.
• Continually seeks and identifies methods to increase store sales and profitability; makes recommendations and/or implements changes as appropriate.
• Monitors the competitive environment within the community and offer recommendations to the buying directors regarding adjustments necessary to maintain a competitive position.
• Provides product feedback to their direct leader, including recommendations regarding new items to carry or those that should be discontinued.
• Develops metrics, milestones, and goals for employees; ensures goals are met.
• Collaborates with the support office team to develop and implement budgets, sales goals, marketing strategies, and promotions.
• Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities.
• Develops and/or implements inventory control and security systems.
• Assesses periodic financial reports, evaluating performance against goals and implementing improvements as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.
 
Qualifications & Skills:
• Exceptional customer service and managerial skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective time management, attention to detail, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to understand and implement a budget.

• Academic degree preferably in Business or a related field; we will also consider equivalent experience
• Prior leadership/management experience
• Able to meet the requirements to occasionally stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50# and occasionally 80#
• Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures; and can do simple math problems
• May require travel within Buehler’s store footprint
