The Software Development Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, engineering support and development of a Machine Intelligence (IOT) software system that interfaces with ECI’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software applications and machines in our customer’s manufacturing environment.
You will work closely with Product Management to prioritize, estimate, and provide input into product roadmaps. You will provide steward leadership and direction for offshore development teams. Lasty, you will work closely with customer support to help troubleshoot software problems, triage support tickets, and manage defect fixes and platform upgrades.
Responsibilities:
- People Management - Coaching, feedback, career development, performance assessments, objective setting, business goal alignment, hiring & disciplinary action as needed, recognize and reward performance
- Leadership - Communication within Product Development and peers across the organization, conflict resolution, meeting management, change management
- Methodology - Enable quality-focused, predictable, and effective software development processes (Agile, SDLC, accountability)
- Project Management - Accountable for deliverables, estimates, planning, follow up and tracking, review department performance to metrics and commitments
- Software Architecture – Responsible for designing the overall software and network architecture for a Machine Intelligence (IOT) application.
- Functional Expertise - Contribute to individual area of expertise, project work and standards, functional decomposition / user story development and documentation
- Plan - driver of short-term and long-term strategic planning, help shape the vision and direction of the products, and align them to overall strategic goals
- Investigate root cause and implement corrective action when necessary, effectively handle ambiguous tasks and assignments, review processes for possible improvements
- Manage software releases and patches on the portal used by customers to download and install the software
- Represent organization externally, and create opportunities for the team to interact with customers and business partners
Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent years of experience
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Proven team leadership responsibility
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to build and sustain trust through relationships with others
- Working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts in the field of software development
- Ability to communicate product and engineering ideas to team/customer and partners
- Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
- Demonstrate excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques to identify the best solutions based on business value and direction
- Ability to think outside of the box and are adaptable to change
- Ability to work on problems of significant scope independently; Self-directed or work and interact as part of a team
- Ability to lead meetings, clearly communicate technical approach, status, assess risk and mitigate
- Network with senior internal and external/partner personnel in own area of expertise
- Strong in program management execution, results driven, and ability to hold team accountable for end results setting appropriate milestones along the way to validate progress
- Strong leadership skills, leading by example, driving employee commitment through actions, empowering employees to reach their full potential
- Minimal travel required.
