Position:

 

Claratel Behavioral Health (formerly DeKalb Community Service Board) is recruiting for a Psychiatrist for our DeKalb Regional Crisis Center, serving adult individuals who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis or are in need of withdrawal management.  The psychiatrist provides direct care by evaluating, diagnosing, performing psychiatric assessments, prescribing medications as needed, and providing ongoing care to assure appropriate resolution of the crisis. The incumbent plays a key role in providing psychiatric/medical care as part of an interdisciplinary team and provides psychiatric and medical oversight and supervision with the APRN staff on the 36 bed Crisis Stabilization Unit.  The incumbent is also available to the Crisis Service Center and Temporary Observation Unit, as needed.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct psychiatric care for clients ages 18 and above; this includes psychiatric evaluations, crisis management, psychiatric treatment including therapy, medication management, withdrawal management, and medical care on the unit.
  2. Demonstrates strong clinical judgement in assessment, application of diagnostic criteria, clinical formulations, and sound triage decisions.
  3. Participates in daily interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, addressing medical/psychiatric status of individuals served on the unit
  4. Acts as delegated physician of record for specific advanced practice nurses on the Crisis Stabilization Unit. Provides clinical supervision for these staff members.

Minimum Education, Credentials, and Experience: Adult Psychiatrist. Active Georgia Medical and DEA License. Currently Board Certified / Board Eligible. Proficient use of a computer and ability to utilize an Electronic Health Record and other applications. Preferred: Psychiatry Board Certified.

Working Conditions: Works indoors in a residential crisis setting. May be required to physically assist clients, may need to carry objects up to 10 pounds. On-call after-hours availability.

Needed Attributes: High ethical standards demonstrated in all aspects of medical practice. Able to lead a medical team that promotes learning, excellence and optimal outcomes for clients. Critical thinking, exemplary interpersonal skills, and a consistent, contributing demeanor is required. Ability to promote a person-centered, recovery oriented, and trauma informed philosophy in client care.
