We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our team and support the Department of Pediatrics.

 

Due to the hybrid nature of this role, we will only consider candidates who currently reside in Colorado or those with tentative plans to relocate to Colorado.

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will concentrate on understanding the complexities and the funds flow between the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM), CU Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO).  The individual in this position will support the Manager of Finance in a variety of financial and business-related tasks. The Senior Analyst will work closely with the Manager of Finance, Section Business Managers, Grant Specialists, the Director of Finance and Administration, Department Chair, faculty, and other support personnel within each organization (CU Medicine, CUSOM and CHCO).  This position will utilize a variety of financial systems and support the Manager of Finance with financial tasks ensuring accurate and timely responses to requests for financial data, analysis, projections and various projects.

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will:

    • Reconcile and follow up on budget variances on a monthly basis for assigned sections for CU Medicine/CUSOM/CHCO
    • Update, analyze, and distribute monthly financial projections and provider overage/deficit schedules
    • Educate faculty and staff in all financial matters for their section(s)
    • Develop financial analysis tools to be used in the monthly preparation and review of financial information
    • Create automated reports including, but not limited to, monthly projections, provider surplus/deficit reports, year-over-year and month-over-month analysis reports
    • Maintain the SharePoint site for Department of Pediatrics Finance
    • Prepare and manage business modeling scenarios for use in strategic planning processes
    • Work closely with CUSOM payroll coordinators to reconcile monthly payroll/benefits and report any variances
    • Analyze data and propose financial suggestions to department leadership
    • Responsible for annual AAAP Survey data submission
    • Plan and manage projects of various size involving multiple tasks and teams within the Department of Pediatrics
    • Develop, organize, and maintain database driven analysis tools
    • Help create and maintain a finance manual to be used by Department of Pediatrics (DOP)
    • Work closely with CUSOM and CHCO Grants Manager and/or specialists to ensure accurate fiscal management and reporting
    • Support HR Program Director and Finance Manager during annual salary setting process
    • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned

 

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field and a minimum of 5 yrs progressive accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.  Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and be comfortable presenting and interacting with various audiences including the Director of Finance, and other members of department leadership.  Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and follow through is essential to success.  Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.  Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have a high-level proficiency in MS Excel with experience using other analytic tools such as PowerBI, PowerQuery, and relational databases.  Experience with SharePoint &/or ADP HCM is a plus.
