We are seeking a highly motivated Coder to join the Emergency Department (ED) team.


The Coder in this role will review and process professional charges to ensure accurate and timely billing. This will include verifying required billing information, assigning accurate ICD-10 codes and reviewing for CPT accuracy and modifiers. Gather charge information and perform appropriate application in accordance with billing and documentation regulations. Abstract billable services and related diagnosis from the medical record.  Respond to all requests for assistance in resolving issues related to coding and billing. Serve as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and hospital personnel for all coding and billing matters. Maintain procedure manuals /desk procedures and ensure all information is current. Develop and implement plans for reducing DOS/DOP. Assist in developing policies and procedures to facilitate back-up coverage within the ED coding team as needed. Responsibilities at this level require an individual who can function independently and manage issues of greater complexity.


Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must have CPC or equivalent certification. Prior Emergency Department coding experience is a plus.  The ability to organize and work independently in a professional setting is required. Must maintain a positive attitude and exhibit team building skills and leadership ability Sound decision making and high level verbal & written communication skills are essential to successful performance.
