This position is with our company Diversified Fluid Solutions, which manufactures a variety of chemical blending and distribution equipment, provides technical expertise, and delivers flawless support to meet a diverse array of high purity chemical applications.

SUMMARY: DFS is an Original Equipment Manufacturer supplying a wide range of high purity process gas and liquid equipment to the Semiconductor manufacturing industry.
The Gas Systems Product Manager drives product line development, managing a portfolio of new product development projects and customer opportunities to support delivery of the business plan.  As the subject matter expert, the Product Manager provides support to sales and commercial management to evaluate client requirements, select appropriate products and develop proposals. As the owner of product line specifications, including safety, performance, quality and cost, the Product manager coordinates and leads multidisciplinary teams through internal and client projects. The role involves working closely with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, manufacturing operations, Quality and Service. A strong engineering background is required with experience in bulk and/or special gases ideally in semiconductor manufacturing. This position involves direct interaction with key customers, gathering application requirements, writing and presenting technical documents.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assess and interpret specifications and technical requirements from clients and the overall market, for gas systems applications and sales/project opportunities.
  • Work with the sales team and directly with customers to understand client process and operational challenges and recommend an existing or new system.
  • Analyze flow and function requirements and engineer solutions to meet these requirements.
  • Track and monitor product line sales and project data to evaluate product line commercial performance and target product developments, value engineering, lead-time and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Propose and lead new product development projects through new product launch
  • Track and monitor the performance of products and assist in diagnosis and implementation of corrective actions for defects and for continuous improvement
  • Provide technical support to the sales and estimating teams to develop configurations of equipment for quotations.
  • Develop and maintain gas systems Theory of Operations and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Develop product and component specifications and recommendations to support estimators, project managers, engineers and designers at all stages of a project.
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure all system designs are safe and in compliance with codes and industry standards.
  • Support the process controls engineering team in the creation and maintenance of system Sequence of Operations.
  • Provide guidance to Engineering and estimating to maintain standard product designs, and configuration data, including product version/release control.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of gas systems product literature.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: One or more Product Engineers as direct reports, leadership role in matrix teams.


Job Requirements: Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of gases – physical and chemical properties and associated safety hazards.
  • Experience with high purity special or bulk gas systems (ideally in Process design, Installation, Operation, Etc.)
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing processes and industry requirements, ideally familiar with SEMI Standards.
  • Experience in fluid systems engineering and specification, e.g. line sizing, component selections.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Process hazard analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant process controls and instrumentation for fluid handling systems
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics.
  • Ability to apply mathematical skills and analyze data
  • Ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous projects to defined schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to organize and lead teams.
  • Experience working with and under an ISO quality management system
  • Experience with sound engineering change management practices
  • Financially literate / experience in managing assigned costs to a budget.
  • Experience with design software such as Autocad, Solidworks, Pipeflo is advantageous but not essential.
  • Must have strong Personal computer skills including Microsoft business applications and evidence good communication, interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.


Education and/or experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent scientific discipline with appropriate experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gases and engineered systems.

The work environment characteristics include periodic noise increases, although for the most part the environment is usually quiet.  Safety glasses and other required protection must be worn when out in the shop area.
