SUMMARY: The “Systems Engineer” will be a part of a team of Administrators that are responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our company’s internal systems and network infrastructure. This includes both hardware and software systems. You will be collaborating closely with other teams in the company to ensure that our systems are able to meet the demands of our business. In this role, you will be expected to have a deep understanding of systems engineering principles and be able to apply them to real-world scenarios.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 5 years of experience working as a systems engineer or a similar role. They will also have experience working with a variety of different operating systems and network architectures. Additionally, they will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work independently.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain the systems that keep our organization running (Windows Server, VMware, HPE Simplivity, Cisco Meraki, Synology NAS, Wi-Fi, WAN,LAN).
  • Understand business objectives and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Design and implement solutions that are scalable, dependable, and secure.
  • Conduct research to identify innovative technologies that can improve our systems.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Write technical documentation to help others understand our systems.
  • Train and mentor Administrators.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure smooth integration of our systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems when they occur.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity.
  • Plan and execute projects to upgrade or replace existing systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors on the purchase and implementation of new hardware and software.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ year’s experience in systems engineering or a related role.
  • Expertise in at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure preferably).
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of network, storage, and compute virtualization technologies (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure)
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (PowerShell)

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ year’s experience in systems engineering or a related role.
  • Certifications from major public cloud providers (AWS, Azure preferably)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps culture and practices.

 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • VMware (VCP, VCAP, VCDX)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • CompTIA Network+
