Thermal - Distribution Mechanic II
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Distribution Mechanic, the Distribution Mechanic II. This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the Steam and Chilled Water distribution systems to ensure the uninterrupted flow of Steam and Chilled Water from the plants to the customer and associated distribution system.
Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas:
-Inspect, maintain, and repair distribution piping, manholes, ducting, reducing station, valves, expansion joints, etc.
-Identify, locate, and repair any leaks or faulty equipment associated with distribution system.
-Inspect and maintain all vehicles and equipment used in repair work on steam mains.
-Install new or replace existing steam and chilled water services.
-Help to ensure all city and state permits and regulations are followed and that no work done will endanger the public.
-Qualify as LOTO Authority. Properly apply LOTO and other safety measures in the Distribution systems.
-Qualify as competent person in erecting scaffolds, barricades, platforms, and shoring, to facilitate work and protect work areas; provide adequate protection and warning to employees and public in work areas.
-Qualify as Confined Space Attendant/Supervisor for work in Vaults and excavations.
-Assist in evaluating the readiness and quality of distribution system and make recommendations for the improvement of same
-Assist in maintaining an inventory of materials necessary for distribution system maintenance and order
parts required to maintain this inventory.
-Qualify and operate dump truck, backhoe, jack hammer, cut saw, and other similar equipment.
-Ensuring all PA One calls are addressed and located in a timely manner.
-Thorough knowledge of the CMMS and Work Order process.
Experience & Education Requirements:
-High School diploma or equivalent.
-Must have a minimum of one (1) years of work experience and familiarity in areas such as, welding, pipe fitting, masonry fundamentals, and heavy equipment operations.
- Must have a familiarity in steam and chilled water distribution systems including piping, expansion joints, traps,
and pressure reducing valve operation.
-Valid PA driver’s license.
Knowledge & Skills:
-Knowledge in reading piping schematics and technical instructions.
-Ability to work in adverse climate conditions, including working in confined spaces.
-Ability to use SAP to write notifications and complete CMMS work orders.-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
