Job Summary:

Negotiates, structures and/or administers contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors and suppliers for purchasing goods and supplies, equipment, services, systems, software or technical equipment for internal company use. Negotiates favorable terms and volume discounts that comply with company policies and procedures, legal requirements and/or other specifications.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Gains full understanding of purchasing requirements in order to understand transaction risks and develop an appropriate procurement strategy to achieve corporate and/or local plant desired outcomes for service and cost.
  • Manage bid process for corporate and local plants to include (i) preparing procurement solicitations for formally advertised or negotiated procedures to include terms and conditions, scope of work, insurance and bonding requirements, (ii) running RFP process, (iii) performing bid and proposal evaluation and (iv) recommending selection in accordance with established criteria.
  • Develops, maintains and updates all documentation regarding competitive bid (bidders list, actions, RFI’s). Issues award letters, contracts or purchase orders.
  • Coordinates with a variety of department representatives, legal, and others as required during all stages of negotiation and contract processes to resolve problems and issues.
  • Negotiates with suppliers establishing price, delivery, quantity, payment, scope of work, change orders, etc..
  • Researches sources of supply. Identifies and evaluates sole source validity and methods of procurement action.
  • Provides administrative oversight during contract performance. Works with internal and external departments/representatives. Initiates corrective action where suppliers are not performing to expectation.

Qualifications and Experience Levels:  

      · Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering Bachelor’s degree is preferred

      · CPSM, CSCP or other similar certification preferred

      · Proven purchasing and negotiation experience, preferably within construction or manufacturing environment

     ·  Contract management and supplier experience

     ·  Project management experience

     ·  Computer literate, to include proficient to advanced Excel skills

     ·  Minimum 3 years’ experience
