For over 45 years Club Fit staff has worked hard to create a club environment dedicated to helping people achieve their health and fitness goals in a state of the art facility with support, guidance and motivation from a professional and knowledgeable staff. The organization has been amazingly successful and has helped many people lead healthier lives. We are proud that the communities we serve are better due to the work we do. People lead healthier and more active lives with our help than they would without us. We are very aware of the benefits people receive from the active and healthy lifestyle we help them pursue. People are able to do more, be more active and be sick less as a result of the work we do. Most of all, they are able to spend more time with the ones they love. This is the foundation of the work we do.

Job Title:  Assistant Camp Director

 

Job Purpose

  • Assist the Sports Director in the overall operations of the Summer Camp program
  • Ensure smooth daily camp operations by providing a safe and fun environment for children and by providing genuine hospitality

Operations

  • Provide a fun and safe environment for all participants in the Summer Camp program
  • Assist in the recruiting process and make recommendations for prospective counselors
  • Attend and contribute to pre-camp training sessions with Camp Counselors and Counselors in Training
  • Draft and finalize the counselor work schedule
  • Show attention to detail while organizing camper's groups by age and ability
  • Assign counselors, groups and duties on a weekly basis
  • Oversee counselor weekly activity schedule and duties
  • Provide oversight for lunch orders as needed
  • Supervise swim time in accordance with Westchester Department of Health guidelines
  • Maintain daily attendance records
  • Complete accident and incident reports when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Department Strategy and Communication

  • Interact with parents by engaging in conversation and addressing concerns
  • Conduct weekly after camp meetings with Camp Counselors
  • Keep updated staff phone list and schedule
  • Be knowledgeable of other club departments, programs and events
  • Assist with training of new staff
  • Remain polite and courteous
  • Maintain a positive relationship with members, colleagues, Manager and other Club Fit staff, demonstrating a commitment to embracing the neighborhood
  • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for own work
  • Wear uniform, including club-issued shirt and name tag
  • Adhere to department's operational procedure

Professional and Technical Knowledge

  • Ongoing Club Fit Training in 1Huddle
  • Professional Certification
    • CPR PRO Adult Child Infant AED
    • First Aid – Responding to Emergencies
  • Education and Experience  
    • Experience working in a classroom or camp environment preferred
    • Teaching certification is a major bonus
  • Other
    • Computer skills required

 

Team Work

  • Partner with the Manager on Duty (MOD) as the need arises
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward Club Fit and fellow staff at all times
  • Demonstrate a commitment to embracing the neighborhood by working with the Club Fit team at internal and external events to promote the Summer Camp program
  • Be punctual for all scheduled shifts or arrange for coverage and inform manager and other staff members accordingly
  • Acknowledge members and provide timely and efficient service with a smile, ensuring that the members are certain that we care about their well being
  • Attend meetings with the Sports Director and other Camp staff
  • Perform any or all tasks required to maintain optimal functioning of the department

Job Requirements
Ability to:

  • Sit, stand and walk around for extended periods of time
  • Lift 10 lbs
  • Understand and communicate both verbally and written in English
  • Follow job related directions
  • Work a flexible schedule as required by business needs
  • Understand and comply with all company safety policies and their requirements
  • Attend training meetings as scheduled

  • Direct Line to Sports Director

 

Pay Range

$22-$25/ hr.
