Medicolegal Death Investigators (2)
Seeking two regular part-time medicolegal professionals (average 10 to 16 hours per week) to conduct death investigations in cooperation with law enforcement and work closely with the Sheriff’s Office and MDI team to provide expert witness testimony and legal documentation for court trials and appearances. This position is represented by the Clatsop County Law Enforcement Association.
Mandatory Qualifications
CMDI, NAME, or NIJ 40-hour certification in death investigation completed within a year of hire. Able to draw biological specimens, accurately describe remains, and examine mutilated, decomposed, and partial remains. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively and empathetically share information regarding policies, science, medicine, and state statutes, as well as grand jury, inquest and/or courtroom testimony.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced coursework in biology, physiology or chemistry, knowledge of human anatomy. Nursing, physician’s assistant, or paramedic experience. Strong writing skills with an understanding of complex, detailed medical and legal terminology. Experience working with law enforcement.
