Lighting Design is a strategic initiative within Visual Comfort & Co allowing us to engage our customers in a more meaningful way, especially within the residential architectural lighting category.  As a Lighting Designer, you will assist clients, the Business Development team, and other sales team members in layout and specification of residential architectural lighting to drive sales of Visual Comfort & Co brand products.

Responsibilities:
  • Produce accurate, efficient, and creative residential lighting plans within AutoCAD utilizing Visual Comfort & Co brand products  
  • Execute lighting design plans within Visual Comfort & Co standards, ensuring consistency and quality of work both in design and deliverables
  • Participate/lead product and design presentations to Builders, Designers and Architects 
  • Utilize product knowledge and lighting design skill to collaborate with Business Development and showrooms across all markets to convert new and develop existing Visual Comfort & Co customers
  • Be an available resource to Visual Comfort & Co team members seeking product knowledge and technical expertise
  • Meet/exceed architectural lighting sales goals through lighting design efforts
  • Travel for project design meetings and site visits in the showroom trade area markets
  • Meet established project deadlines 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior design, Lighting Design, or Architecture required
  • 5+ years of project based residential lighting design experience required
  • Experience must include creation of lighting plans, lighting schedules, and lighting specification packages
  • Proficient computer skills utilizing AutoCAD, Acrobat and Excel.  Experience with Dialux or AGI32 not required, but helpful
  • Project management experience 
  • Domestic architectural lighting acumen, acute knowledge of residential dimming protocols and basic wiring
  • Keen eye for design and creativity 
  • Strong grasp of residential lighting trends
  • Knowledge of residential construction processes and a deft understanding of construction documents
  • Critical thinking, superior organization, planning skills, time management and prioritization with the ability to multi-task and thrive under pressure in a dynamic, multi-location team environment 
  • Excellent communication skills, possess the ability to clearly articulate design and technical information to clients and internal teams
  • Experience professionally presenting solutions to customers
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and possess the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to achieve results both independently and through collaboration
  • Strong analytical skills with a consistent focus on results measurement and fact-based decision making
  • Sales experience not required, but an advantage
