Summary
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and conducting medical reviews. Additionally, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides patient education, consultation, and follow-up under the supervision of staff psychiatrist and medical director.
Essential Functions:
• Identifies, evaluates and addresses psychiatric and/or substance abuse behavioral health issues.
• Conducts medical assessment reviews of all enrolled clients; coordinating and referring for specialized care when indicated.
• Provides psycho-education to clients and/or families about preventive care, substance abuse, psychiatric or medical issues, and use of prescribed medications with their possible side effects.
• Documents all psychiatric and/or substance abuse evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education & referrals consistent with state and city regulatory standards.
• Directs medication management sessions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• None Minimum Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Graduate of an accredited Master’s Degree Program as a Nurse.
• Practitioner with current New York State licensure.
• Psychiatric experience.
• Extensive training and/or experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
• Knowledge of insurance/managed care process.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
Qualifications Preferred:
• Expertise in working with children, adolescents, and young adults.
• Bilingual in one or more of the following: Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others based on client needs.
