The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks an Employment Specialist. This position assists in providing a variety of employment and vocational services for veterans within the CCH system of care and veteran organizations in the community. This includes linking consumers from CCH programs to already existing veteran employment and vocational providers in the community, assisting in job development activities, providing supportive employment services to a limited caseload, providing open job readiness groups, serving as the focal point for employment information and disseminating that information throughout CCH as well as other special and/or short-term employment projects. This position is located at 563 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, Colorado 80205 and reports to the Program Director, Vocational Services.

Essential Job Functions
 

  1. Serves as part of the Vocational Services Team within the Coalition.
  2. Coordinates job development activities for the HVRP program.
  3. Develops and facilitates employment-related groups.
  4. Develops and facilitates supportive employment services.
  5. Maintains an updated knowledge regarding community providers.
  6. Complete all documentation and data entry as required, in a timely manner (Access Data Base, MS Word, HMIS, Elogic, etc.)
  7. Responds to crisis situations.
  8. Works with internal and external job developers to help with HVRP participant job placement.
  9. Provides ongoing guidance, advice and employment related assistance to HVRP participants.
  10. Works with veterans on an individual basis to assist them in developing an individual employment plan (IEP) and in attaining the goals and objectives outlined in that plan.
  11. Provides general advice and employment assistance for HVRP consumers.
  12. Maintains and distributes employment information such as job openings, etc.
  13. Develops, tracks and reports all required program process measures, outcome measures, customer satisfaction surveys and employer satisfaction surveys.
  14. Any vocational support for CCH clients as needed.
  15. Attends applicable staff and community meetings.
  16. Maintains current and complete COVID19 vaccination(s), as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications Summary

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  2. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
  3. Prior experience in assisting veterans and others suffering from homelessness, mental health issues and substance abuse/co-occurring disorders preferred.
  4. Experience in the provision of vocational services, preferably to individuals that may be disabled and homeless.
