SpecPro Professional Services, LLC, a subsidiary of BBNC, is seeking a full-time Cultural Resource Specialist to join our team. This on-site support position is located at Fort Campbell, Kentucky for the Cultural Resources Management Program (CRMP), Environmental Division in the Directorate of Public Works (DPW), U.S. Army Garrison.  

The successful candidate will work as a team member in a dynamic group that gathers cultural resources data and must be capable of following U.S. Army protocols. This position requires proficiency in scientific writing, administrative skills, and logistics in both the office and field. An in-depth understanding of National Register evaluation criteria, Section 106 process, archaeological field methods, artifact curation, Microsoft Access database software, Trimble data collector, and ESRI ArcMap software is necessary. Ability to work in the field in all seasons (under sun, rain, humid, or snowy conditions), walk/hike long distances, operate ATV/UTV, and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 

 

Responsibilities 

Primarily tasks include conducting annual archaeological site and cemetery monitoring and be capable of working independently in remote locations, record keeping, small-scale archaeological testing and field surveys, collecting GIS data, coordinating with consultants, assessing impacts to archaeological sites, performing literature searches, carrying out genealogical research, coordinating descendant visits to cemeteries, assisting with artifact and records curation, conducting outreach with Fort Campbell and local communities, and reviewing utility location service calls (Tennessee 811).  

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or related field. 
  • Understand the application of Federal laws and regulations regarding NHPA, ARPA, and Section 106 / 110.
  • Ability to act with professional discretion at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, attention to detail, adaptability, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency using ArcGIS 10.X and Microsoft Office 365 software.  
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines, work independently, and in a team environment.  

The preferred candidate will also meet the following preferred qualifications: 

  • MS/MA degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or related field
    • Possess at least (1) year of post-graduate professional work experience that demonstrates proficiency in archaeological research, conducting Phase I and II field investigations, as well as state site record preparation and review in the southeastern U.S. 
    • Possess prior experience on U.S. military installations and knowledge of U.S. Army polices and processes. 
  • Meets the Secretary of Interior’s professional qualification standards in Archaeology (36 CFR, part 61). 
  • Previous work experience in a highly structured, hierarchical workplace with a well-defined chain of command. 
  • Familiarity with agreement documents, such as Programmatic Agreements (PA) and/or Memorandum of Agreements (MOA).
