Medical Specimen Processing Technician

Eagle Global Scientific, LLC is a dynamic Alaskan Native-owned company and a subsidiary of the Bristol Bay Native Corporation of Alaska. We are looking for a qualified Medical Technician – Specimen Processing (MTSP) to provide services to the US Air Force Drug Testing Laboratory, Lackland AFB, TX.  As the MTSP you will handle specimens using the appropriate techniques to assure optimum specimen integrity throughout the testing process.  It is possible that the contractor might need to testify in court about their work below. Work is performed on a military installation, in a restricted area therefore, must be able to pass a security background check.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Visually examining the box the specimen came in
• Ensuring appropriate paperwork is included in the box
• Visually inspecting the specimen bottle.
• Opening and pouring specimen into test tubes.
•  Batching test tubes into  sample racks for screen, rescreen and confirmation analysis
•  Bar-code scanning test tube labels
• Ensuring forms are properly completed
• Entering data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Pulling and preparing specimens for storage, shipment or destruction

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year work experience in a Clinical,  Forensic  or Reference Laboratory
• Associates Degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or 60 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry.
