Job Title: Supply Chain Buyer/Planner – Foodservice Supply

Reports To: Senior Supply Chain Manager – Foodservice Supply

Location: Pewaukee Corporate Office

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Buyer/Planner will collaborate with the Product Category Manager, as well as the sales and customer service teams to develop and implement supply chain solutions for the foodservice supply and hospitality industries. They are responsible for developing and executing strategies that lead to inventory optimization and cost savings to achieve the company’s sales, profitability, and inventory turnover objectives. They actively manage inventory and forecast demand to ensure we have the right inventory at the right time at the right price to meet customer demand. They own the inventory management which includes purchase order management, delivery management, and risk mitigation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

 

  • Review and analyze demand trends to prepare forecasts that ensure proper inventory levels to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain strong working relationships and communication key suppliers to ensure on time deliveries.
  • Review purchase order requisitions and release purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Responsible for purchase order changes, follow up, and delivery accuracy.
  • Manage low stock levels to avoid stock-outs.
  • Responsible for inventory management at off-site locations.
  • Understand external market conditions such as supply issues, governmental issues, logistics issues, commodity market cost changes, and other risks.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage slow moving inventory to reduce and avoid excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Coordinates and resolves supplier nonconforming quality issues.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement projects and initiatives within the materials planning function.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to provide input in new vendor onboarding and developing product strategies to create optimal stock offering.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum 3-5 years buying/planning experience with a relevant industry.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, decision-making, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong experience in suite of Microsoft Office programs; Excel a proficiency a must.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with track record of exceeding targets.
  • College degree strongly preferred.
