Job Summary:  The Recovery Specialist provides recovery-oriented supports in the form of psychoeducation, peer supports, and introduction to self-help groups, etc. and provides direct, individualized patient care by assisting patients with daily living activities and accompanying patients to and from examinations and treatments.  The Recovery Specialist contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by supporting individuals in their recovery journey to recovery and mental wellness.  

This is a non-exempt position.

Friday & Saturday - 7am-3pm - 16 Hours - Part-Time

Essential Functions of Position:

●    Work with the multidisciplinary team to support the processes for patients’ admission (greeting, sign-in, orientation, search and belongings processing), transfer, discharge, ongoing observation and care, while ensuring respect and dignity.
●    Provide non-professional nursing or other supportive care under the direction and supervision of professional nurses/counselors, including conduct safety checks throughout the shift and documenting findings.
●    Monitor patient activities at all times, including groups, recreational activities, free time, fresh air breaks, outings, etc., and interact therapeutically with patients to ensure their needs are met.
●    Facilitate and promote patient’s participation in wellness and recreational activities, as well as assisting in the facilitation of educational and recreational groups under the guidance of Case Managers and Counselors.
●    Observe patients for changes in behavior, communicate observations to nurses and managers in order to elicit guidance on steps to take, carry out recommendations, and document all observations and responses to service planning.
●    Conduct check ins with patients as requested by Case Managers and Counselors to support treatment goals.
●    Participate in general unit upkeep duties, including emptying rubbish barrels, cleaning the dining room (wiping down tables, washing cups and coffee pots), and bathrooms each shift (toilets, sinks, showers), washing patient and house laundry, and cleaning up after meetings.
●    Maintain concise and accurate documentation as assigned.
●    Drive and accompany patients to appointments or discharge destinations in the absence of the driver.
●    Attend and participate in staff meetings, supervision, and related professional development sessions. 
●    Other job-related duties as assigned.
 
Job Requirements:

●    High school diploma or equivalent.
●    Six months experience in health and human service-related field preferred, preferably working with those with co-occuring mental health and substance use disorders.
●    Demonstrated understanding of, and committed to adhere to, federal and state policies (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA) and ensure appropriate releases are obtained prior to exchanging or disclosing necessary patient information.
●    Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
●    Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.
●    Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
