Exciting Opportunity as a Community Development Coach!

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others? Jewish Community Services is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Community Development Coaches. As a Coach, you will have the unique opportunity to empower individuals with varying abilities to engage with their community, learn social skills, and build meaningful relationships.

In this role, you will work with clients, both in small groups and one-on-one, for approximately 15.00 -18.00 hrs./wk. You will provide hands-on assistance with a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, cooking, games, fitness classes, movies, group discussions, and more. Driving up to four clients in your car within the community will also be a part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support clients in learning job readiness skills such as workplace communication, punctuality, and interviewing skills, as well as assisting with resume preparation and interview preparation.

We value documentation and progress tracking, and as a Coach, you will be expected to maintain accurate progress notes and attendance records for each client using our in-house software or email system. Don't worry if you're new to this field - training is available to support your professional growth.

Responsibilities of a Community Development Coach may include:

- Assisting clients in accessing volunteer opportunities and learning tasks.
- Engaging clients in social activities like movies, bowling, and museum visits.
- Supporting clients in developing job readiness skills and updating their resumes.
- Helping clients prepare for interviews.

As a Coach, you will play a pivotal role in determining the necessary support and accommodations needed for each client to thrive in their community and become self-sufficient. You will advocate for reasonable accommodations and alternative methods to ensure client success. Additionally, you will mediate and resolve conflicts in group settings, model effective task performance, and follow schedules and lesson plans.

To excel in this role, we require excellent communication skills, proficiency with computers and software such as Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with timekeeping systems. You should also have a strong ability to relate to individuals with varying abilities and demonstrate familiarity with and sensitivity to religious and cultural identities.

Requirements for the Coach position include maintaining all state-required training such as CPR, First Aid, and OSHA, as well as having reliable transportation to ensure punctuality. Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check and a five-panel drug test.

Don't forget to submit references and a cover letter or portfolio to support your application.

We believe in taking care of our employees, and as a Community Development Coach, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits plan, a 401(k) retirement plan, generous paid time off and holidays, a free JCC gym membership (taxes apply), professional development opportunities, Legal Shield, pet insurance, MD 529 College Savings Plans, a competitive salary, free CEU (Continuing Education Unit) opportunities, and supervision for licensure.
