Job Description

Title: Teva Field Director Department: Program
Reports to: Teva School Director
Date: Oct 2022 Status:  Hourly/full time

Summary:   
TEVA has fundamentally transformed Jewish education through experiential learning that fosters Jewish and ecological sustainability. The Teva Advisor role will train the next generation of Environmentally aware Jews and Jewish Outdoor Educators. This position is central to Teva’s success in planning, training, and assisting in the execution of the program.

Task Dimensions and Examples: 

Tasks include planning, curriculum, interviews, teacher training, and educating in the field.


Until January 1st 2023 would be at 5-10 hours a week for planning program with the support of the Teva School Director to help shape the Teva program, training and curricula for the coming season.


Between Jan 1st and March 1st 2023 the hours would be 15-20 hours both planning the TEVA training weeks and as go-to person for other educators contributing to TEVA planning.


Beginning March 1st thru June 9th the Teva training and Teva Program the position would be full-time - acting as lead education staff for the TEVA program and training weeks, as well as supporting other educators in their planning and implication.

Compensation would be $25 dollars an hour for hourly seasons and 12k for the full time season.

Qualifications/Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in education, administration, Jewish Studies 
2. Non-profit experience preferred, but not required
3. Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Outlook
4. Excited to learn new technologies, systems and integrate those systems seamlessly into the work to be more efficient and effective
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills
6. Comfortable in front of groups, making announcements
7. Detail-oriented and able to multi-task
8. Flexibility to accept new responsibilities and direction as necessary
9. Self-motivated
10. Ability to prioritize
11. Ability to undertake multiple deadline-driven tasks

SUPERVISION
The Teva Field Director does not have any formal supervision responsibilities.  Deep and effective collaboration with colleagues in the program and farm department are necessary for the successful and smooth facilitation of program-related tasks. During the program execution they will be lead staff guiding and instructing all Teva educators.


Mental, Physical and Visual Skills:
Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with several concrete variables.  Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.  Must be able to do heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, walking, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.  Have visual requirements of mid-range vision.


Working Conditions:
This is an EXEMPT position with varied work hours.  Works in a normal hotel environment.  Fast work pace due to meeting deadlines. Works in an office, campus, and outdoor environment.  Potential exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold conditions. 


Evaluation:
Ninety days from date of employment date. Thereafter, annually.
