Location: Anchorage, Alaska

 

ASCI is currently seeking applicants to be considered for a Systems Administrator role. This role acts as the information technology generalist for the Anchorage operations, as well as critical support for executive leadership team in a variety of technical instances.  As part of a growing, highly functional IT team the position is primarily responsible for the reliable delivery of a variety of infrastructure technologies as well as providing end user support and trouble shooting. These support activities may be onsite, offsite and in the Cloud.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Server and Infrastructure Support (70%)

  • Resolution of support Incidents, including network, server, system, and application
  • Ensure change management process is followed and system changes are documented
  • Ensure that local system environments are up to date and maintain security policies
  • Ensure the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers

 

End User Support (30%)

  • Resolution of end user support issues that are part of business-critical systems
  • Ensure service requests exist for operational issues and are kept up to date
  • Collaborate with Helpdesk to identify, troubleshoot end user business system and network related issues

 

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an IT technical position
  • Bachelor’s degree or other relevant system administration certification. For the right candidate, the equivalent practical experience would be considered.
  • Working with remote Vendor support and on-site consultants
  • Managing and maintaining data center infrastructure
  • Experience in at least two or more of the below:
    1. VMware
    2. Windows Server 2012 & 2016
    3. Active Directory Administration
    4. Familiarity with AWS
    5. Network LAN, WAN and VLAN Knowledge
    6. IP Telephony
    7. NAS
  • Ability to troubleshoot end user issues, such as:
    1. Network connectivity
    2. Access and Security permissions
    3. Citrix and VPN connectivity issues
  • Ability to write and follow documented procedures and encourage knowledge sharing amongst team members
  • Strong Customer Service orientated approach to resolving issues. Excellent people skills and ability to multi-task in in a demanding environment. Desire and ability to work as part of a global team
  • Demonstrated understanding of system administration activities including server deployment, configuration & troubleshooting
  • Be able to participate in afterhours work and on-call roster as required
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision
  • Previous experience working in Alaska Oil & Gas Environment preferred
