RESPONSIBLE TO: Fiscal Services Supervisor - Accounts Receivable
To generate and maintain necessary records for the purpose of receiving and recording payments and submission of reports as required utilizing a computerized and/or manual systems. Generate and submit billing to payers as assigned/required.
1. Post payments, denials, partial payments, etc. to the appropriate accounts on the computer system and the Direct Deposit and Cash Receipt Summary.
2.Bill various payers for services provided as assigned
3.Verify payments to ensure in accordance with expectation.
4.Write adjustments to accounts as required and in accordance with Agency policy.
5.Follow-up on accounts as needed.
6.Answer correspondence in a timely fashion.
7.Send appropriate collection letters to slow paying accounts and make necessary telephone calls.
8.Prepare accounts for outside collections.
9.Maintain necessary records to support duties mentioned above.
10.Submit monthly activity sheets to G/L within the first five working days of the month.
11.Submit monthly aging reports within the first seven working days of the month.
12.Maintain necessary policy and procedure documentation.
13.Prepare and update, as necessary, instruction manual for assigned desk.
14.Assist in training new billing staff
15.Attend training to understand how billing and collection affects the financial statements and related reporting.
16.Reconciliation or maintenance of custodial cash accounts as assigned
17.Other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and/or ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word as well as related financial software. Ability to use office equipment such as calculator, copy machine, etc. Must be detailed oriented and able to adhere to time sensitive deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of customers, both internal and external to the organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration or related field; OR Associates degree in accounting, business administration or related field and two (2) years of demonstrated office experience; OR six (6) years of demonstrated office experience in related capacity.
