Recreation Leisure Specialist - Full Time - Evenings

JOB TITLE: Recreation Leisure Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:  Support Services

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Director Support Services/Nursing, Day Habilitation Supplemental

POSITION SUMMARY:  As a Recreation Leisure Specialist you assist in the planning of and participate in various community based outings (swimming, bowling, holiday parties, and movie outings, etc) for the Recreation Department.  You help to provide recreation services to individuals to meet their needs and supervision levels per the individual’s Life Plan.  Complete and maintain accurate documentation relating to the various services provided to the individuals in the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education, Training & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent

One (1) year Human Services experience
 

Preferred Education, Training & Experience:
Two (2) years Human Services experience

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to effectively multi-task in performance of job. 

Ability to effectively communicate effectively with individuals, their families and staff

Valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency’s driving policy

Must be able to perform lifting techniques required as per program or site specific needs with no restrictions. 

Complete and maintain certification in SCIP-R
