Transportation - CS - Mechanic I
Position will be responsible for assisting with required preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, and repairs of The Arc's DOT Commercial Fleet (20+ vehicles) as well as some maintenance and repairs for our Non-DOT Fleet (100+ vehicles). This includes, but is not limited to:
- Required Department of Transportation Monthly Preventative Maintenance inspections on a fleet Department of Transportation certified vehicles.
- Trouble shooting, diagnosing, and repairing any issues that arise including electrical, hydraulic, brakes, steering, and suspension, etc. on a variety of vehicles
- Updating and maintaining required fleet documentation. Maintain accurate records. Familiar with DOT compliance preferred.
- Assist with the coordination of repairs of agency vehicles with external vendors when appropriate
- Familiar with and able to follow manufacturer recommended service schedules
Flexibility for driving of passenger vehicles/routes may be required based on the needs of the business. This is a minimal part of the position.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS:
Over the age of 21
High School Diploma/Equivalent Required, College or vocational degree preferred
NYS driver's license and a driver's record that indicates safe driving for a period of 3 years.
3+ years of experience working with a Department of Transportation Fleet of Vehicles Preferred, but not required.
3+ years Certified Mechanic, Fleet Maintenance, or Vehicle Maintenance Technician experience required (this may include formal education when applicable).
Current CDL Driver's License with a Passenger Endorsement or the Ability to Obtain a Class C commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement within 90 days of hire.
Ability to mee requirements of Article 19-A Department of Transportation Vehicle Regulations.
Must be physically capable with the ability to pass a Federal Department of Transportation Physical. Able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis. Able to stand, sit, lift, bend, stoop, maneuver on a regular basis.
Ability to comply with Federal Drug and Alcohol testing requirements
Responsible to furnish his/her own tools and the ability to use heavy duty tools
Ability to use computer and technology confidently
Ability to work individually and as a team to repair vehicles.
