Job Overview 

Responsible for testing and inspection of products and parts in the manufacturing environment to ensure the quality of the product meets and exceeds all applicable standards.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Performs incoming, first off, in-process and final inspection testing as per Inspection Test Plans, regulatory and customer requirements. 

  • Generates inspection and test reports, certificates of compliance and inspection test plans. 

  • Maintains and executes the calibration program as per applicable standards and procedures. 

  • Facilitates inspections and audits by external inspectors from regulatory organizations, customers and auditors. 

  • Issue certificates of conformance for product 

  • Implements test methods and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and customer specifications. 

  • Performs First Article Inspections (FAI’s) or PPAP layouts, as required. 

  • Provides guidance to other QC inspectors and Operators, enabling them to perform the appropriate quality checks and inspections. 

  • Ensures compliance with applicable requirements such as ISO 9001, customer specifications and quality best practices. 

  • Provides input on quality issues to be addressed by the Production and/or Engineering functions. 

  • Investigates customer complaints and prepares RMA report. 

  • Orders required materials and equipment for the quality control lab. 

  • Assists in the day to day operations of the Quality Department. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Experience in plastics injection/blow molding preferred 

  • Good understanding of PPAP, APQP (Control Plan, Flow Chart), PFMEA, problem solving tools such as 8D’s, 5 Why’s, Fish bone diagram and Process mapping 

  • Thorough knowledge of quality inspection, measuring and testing equipment 

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System requirements 

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously 

  • Ability to use sound judgement and bias to action 

  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerance specification 

  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office 

  • Excellent team player 

Education and Experience  

  • College Degree preferred (Quality or Mechanical type of discipline ideal) 

  • 5 to 8 years of experience as a Quality Technician / Technologist in a manufacturing environment 

  • Certifications such as CQT preferred
